Changes coming to NST, NRT OnDemand and FAST

Changes coming to NST, NRT OnDemand and FAST

As part of the Niagara Transit Commission’s ongoing commitment to improve your transit experience, on July 2nd, 2024 we're launching a new single contract that unifies NRT OnDemand, Niagara Specialized Transit and FAST services under the streamlined name "Niagara Region Transit".

What Does This Mean for You?

Niagara Region Transit Plus App: You'll now book your rides using the Niagara Region Transit Plus App. This app provides a user-friendly way to plan and manage your rides and track your vehicle in real-time. We recommend downloading the app and creating your account in advance to ensure a seamless transition.

In-House Booking and Customer Service: With the new contract, we are bringing customer service in-house. Our dedicated NRT staff will handle booking and customer service. This means you'll receive prompt, accurate assistance and enhanced real-time support.

Extended Booking and Dispatch Hours: Starting on July 2nd, we're expanding our booking and dispatch hours to Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., to provide even more flexibility when planning your travel.

Defined Travel Times: To improve service reliability, we're introducing defined travel times for On Demand services. Riders will enjoy more predictable schedules, making it easier to plan your trips.

95% On-Time Arrival Guarantee: We're committed to a 95% on-time arrival rate, ensuring you can depend on us for your daily commute and occasional rides.

Seamless Connections: We're prioritizing better integration with our conventional transit systems, making it easier to connect between services for intermunicipal trips.

Updated Service and Booking / Dispatch Hours

  • Closed Sundays and holidays

These changes apply to both our services and our booking/dispatch, ensuring our staff are available to assist you on the phone during the same hours our vehicles are on the road.

With the new contract, our dedicated NRT staff will handle booking and customer service, providing you with prompt, accurate assistance.

The single contract allows for greater access to vehicles, improving the overall efficiency of our service. While you may share trips, only your service parameters (like door-to-door service for Specialized Transit) will differ.

Defined travel times mean more predictable schedules for OnDemand services, making it easier for you to plan your trips.

We're prioritizing better integration with our conventional transit systems, making it easier for you to connect between services for inter-municipal trips.

A ride-share system matches riders traveling similar routes at the same time, allowing you to share your ride with others. This approach increases efficiency and reduces wait times.

The shift to Niagara Region Transit reflects the unification of these services under one contract, simplifying the experience for our riders. The Niagara Transit Commission currently working on a full rebranding of our services, so stay tuned for more information.
