Bus Stop Changes on Lundy's Lane

Why Is This Change Happening?

Since 2012, Niagara Falls and Niagara Parks have worked together to offer a Visitor Transportation System called the WEGO. It is made up of 3 unique routes – the Red, Blue and Green Lines – making it easy for locals, and visitors to access key attractions across the Niagara Falls tourism area. Niagara Parks contracted the City of Niagara Falls to manage the Blue and Red Lines, while Niagara Parks took care of the Green Line. That agreement ends at the end of August which is why changes are coming to the Red and Blue Line, starting on September 3rd.

Niagara Parks will take over the Blue Line which connects guests and residents to key tourism areas, such as the Fallsview Tourism District and Clifton Hill, along with a number of hotels and attractions.

Niagara Region Transit will take over the WEGO Red Line on Lundy’s Lane, and it will become local Route 116/216. By NRT assuming the Lundy’s Lane route, we aim to:

  • Reduce Traffic in Busy Tourist Areas: Less congestion in key tourist spots for a more pleasant rider experience.
  • Improve Reliability: By keeping Route 116 out of the busy tourist areas, we can provide more consistent arrival times and reduce delays, benefiting both daily commuters and occasional riders.
  • Easier Connections:  We've redesigned the schedule to ensure that buses arrive at the Main & Ferry Hub shortly before other connecting routes to reduce wait times.
  • Enhance Regional Network Integration: Strengthens connections across all Niagara Falls and the Niagara Region areas, benefiting residents who rely on transit daily.

What Else Should You Know?

  • Different Systems: Niagara Region Transit and Niagara Parks are two separate transit systems.
  • Different Fares: The fares for Route 116/216 and the WEGO Blue Line are not the same.
  • Different Passes Required: You can’t use the same tickets or passes for both systems, so you’ll need separate ones for each.
  • New Connection Point: Route 116/216 will connect to the WEGO Blue Line at the new transfer point at 6054 Stanley Ave (Ramada Hotel).
  • Transit Stop Relocations: To improve safety and efficiency, some stops along Lundy's Lane are changing Bus Stop Changes on Lundy's Lane
  • Access to Tourist Areas While Route 116/216 will no longer enter the most congested tourist zones, we've maintained access to popular destinations via a quick transfer at Main & Ferry Hub:
    • Route 104 will take riders up Victoria Avenue to Clifton Hill - See Route 104
    • Route 106 will stop at Stanley Avenue and Murray Street, providing easy access to the Casino area - See Route 106
