Holiday Service

All bus routes will operate on holiday schedules on Monday, September 2, 2024 (Labour Day). Please plan your trips accordingly and check our website or mobile app for specific holiday route timings.

Niagara Falls Proposed Detours

Saturday, August 31 - Monday, September 2

For the Labour Day weekend (Saturday, August 31 - Monday, September 2, 2024), we have proposed detour routings for several bus lines in Niagara Falls due to expected high traffic and events. Please note that these detours are subject to change and may be adjusted flexibly throughout the weekend based on traffic conditions.

Proposed detours include:

  • WEGO REDLINE: Modified route along Lundy's Lane and around the "No Bus Service Zone"
  • WEGO RED EXPRESS: New route connecting transfer points, bypassing the congested areas
  • WEGO BLUE LINE: Altered route with multiple flag stops around the "No Bus Service Zone"
  • 104/204 - DOWNTOWN: Rerouted along Valley Way and McRae St
  • 110 - MORRISON/DORCHESTER: Adjusted route using Drummond Rd and Valley Way

Important: These routes are proposed and may or may not change. There will be signage at bus stops in these areas to inform passengers. Be prepared for route adjustments as needed to navigate traffic conditions.

Routes 601 Red Line and 602 Blue Line Changes (After 5:15 PM)

After 5:15 PM, Routes 601 and 602 will not service the following stops:

  1. Stop 8917 – Victoria Avenue (Route 602 Only)
  2. Stop 8923 – Victoria Avenue & Clifton Hill (Routes 601/602)
  3. Stop 8924 – Greg Frewin Theater/Denny's (Routes 601/602)

Alternative Instructions for Passengers:

  • For all affected stops: Proceed 1 block North to catch Route 602
  • Route 602 will provide connections to Route 601

Specific temporary stop locations:

  • For Stop 8917: Temporary stop on Walnut Street
  • For Stops 8923 and 8924: Temporary stop on Ellen Street

Routes 104 and 204 Detour Information

  • We will attempt to send City buses through the affected area when possible
  • Expect significant delays during heavy traffic congestion periods

For Passengers Traveling West of Stanley Avenue:

  1. Take Route 602 to Stanley Avenue Ramada Hotel
  2. Transfer to Red Express for:
    • Connections at Main Street
    • Service to Lundy's Lane

Red Line to 116/216 Transition

We're implementing a phased transition from Red Line service to Routes 116/216 over the Labour Day weekend. Please note the following schedule changes:

  • Sunday, September 1: Regular Red Line Sunday service will operate on regular Sunday service.
  • Monday, September 2 (Labour Day):
    • Daytime - Route 116 will operate until 6 p.m.
    • Evening - Red Line service will resume for the evening hours.
  • Tuesday, September 3:
    • Route 116/216 will fully take over, replacing the Red Line service.

Passengers are advised to check stop locations and schedules for Routes 116 and 216, as they may differ from the Red Line. Please use our trip planner or mobile app for the most up-to-date information on these new routes.

104/204 Bus Stops Along Victoria Ave

Starting September 3, buses on routes 104/204 will once again stop at designated locations along Victoria Avenue.

Important Updates:

  1. The stop at Victoria and Walnut is no longer in service.
  2. Riders are advised to use stops at Bender Hill or Clifton Hill.

Merritton Labour Day Parade Detours

Monday, September 2

Due to the 2023 Merritton Labour Day Parade, the following detours will be in effect from the start of service until approximately 1:00 PM on Monday, September 2. There will be no bus service on Hartzel Rd and Oakdale Ave during this time.

Route 404

  • Outbound: At Oakdale and Westchester, right on Westchester, left on Hwy 406 to Glendale exit to Pen Centre.
  • Inbound: Pen Centre to Hwy 406 to Westchester, right on Westchester, left on Oakdale then regular route to Downtown.

Route 418

  • Outbound: At Woodrow and Rockwood – continue along Woodrow to St. Augustine, right on St. Augustine, left on Wembly, right on Glendale, left on Bessey, left on Merritt, right on St. David's Road to Hwy 406 to Pen Centre.
  • Inbound: Pen Centre to Hwy 406 to Hwy 58 to Pine St, left on Pine, right on Ormond, Townline, Merritt, right on Bessey, right on Glendale, left on Wembly, right on St. Augustine, left on Rockwood to regular route.

Route 435

  • Will follow its regular route.

Route 302/402 Detour Ends

Starting September 1, 2024:

  • Route 302/402 will return to its original path on Ontario Street
  • This change ends the temporary detour that used Linwell Road and Lakeport Road
  • The detour had been in place for almost a year
