Route 116/216
Bus Stop Changes on Lundy's Lane
We understand that any change to your regular transit routine can be challenging, and we want to explain why these adjustments are necessary. Our goal is to balance convenience with overall service improvement, focusing on traffic flow, safety, and schedule reliability.
Why Are We Making These Changes?
- Addressing Traffic Congestion: By optimizing our stop locations, we aim to reduce frequent stopping and starting, contributing to smoother traffic flow for everyone on the road.
- Enhancing Safety: We've carefully evaluated our stops and prioritized locations that offer safer conditions for riders getting on and off the bus.
- Improving Schedule Reliability: With more efficiently placed stops, we're working towards providing more dependable service.
Preparation for Red Line/116 Transition
These changes are also in anticipation of the upcoming transition from the WEGO Red Line to the NRT 116/216 service, scheduled for September 3rd. This transition represents a significant change to the public transportation network in Niagara Falls, promising improved connectivity and service frequency for residents and visitors. What This Means for You
We recognize that these changes may require adjustments to your usual travel routine. Some riders may need to walk a bit further to their new stop, while others might find the new arrangement more convenient. We encourage you to review the list of affected stops and their alternatives to plan your trips accordingly.
Transition Period and Signage Changes
To ensure a smooth transition and minimize confusion, we want to inform you about our implementation process:
- Starting Monday, August 26, we will begin applying sign coverings to select WEGO stops that are scheduled to become 116/216 stops.
- Important: Even though you may see these coverings, our WEGO buses will continue to service these locations until September 3rd.
This means there will be an overlap period of approximately one week, during which you'll see the new signage, but the old stops will still be in use.
We understand this might cause some initial confusion, but this approach allows us to prepare for the changes while maintaining service at all current stops until the official change date.
