Niagara Transit Plus

Microtransit

We're going your way, with shared rides that connect rural communities across Niagara.

What is Microtransit?

Microtransit is a shared ride service for areas not served by conventional bus routes.

Trips are requested through the Niagara Transit Plus (NT+) App, with pickup at a nearby location based on availability. Microtransit does not follow a fixed route or schedule and may include other riders or stops along the way. Rides can be booked up to seven days in advance.

Microtransit Only

Microtransit is a shared ride service. You may travel with other riders, and the vehicle may make additional stops along the way. Some trips require a transfer at a hub to connect with conventional transit. Other trips operate without a hub or fixed route.

Example:
A rider in Pelham books a trip to a medical appointment in Grimsby. Microtransit picks them up and takes them across zones directly, without stopping at a hub.

Access Points

In some areas, Microtransit connects riders to a bus hub to transfer to a conventional bus route.

Example:
A rider in Wainfleet may take Microtransit to the Welland Terminal and transfer to a conventional bus to continue their trip.

Common access points include:

  • Welland Terminal
  • St. Catharines Terminal
  • Stamford Plaza
  • Niagara College
  • Outlet Collection at Niagara
  • Fort Erie Leisureplex
  • Port Colborne City Hall

What's Multimodal Travel?

Multimodal travel means using more than one type of transit to get where you are going.

Microtransit connects riders from rural areas such as Stevensville, Fenwick, and Vineland to transit hubs, where they transfer to conventional bus routes serving city centres. The NT+ App plans the trip for you. Enter your starting location and destination, and the app will plan each part of the trip, including Microtransit and conventional buses.
